Filipino Jeepney parked on a street in the Spanish colonial heritage area of Vigan City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Jeepney is one of the many forms of public transport in the Philippines. Originally made from U.S. military jeeps left over from World War II and have become a symbol of Philippine culture, some vividly and colorfully decorated. When the American troops left the Philippines they had a surplus of jeeps which were given or sold to Filipinos, they then stripped them down and modified them to accommodate more passengers.
