Stock photo of Ganges River Boats and Temples at the Bathing Ghats. Small pleasure boats moored on the World famous and historical bathing ghats of Varanasi (Benares), in India. Traditional Rowing boats or Ganges River Boats are used to ferry passengers from one side of the Ganga River to the other or to take visiting tourists or pilgrims up and down the river where they can get a better view of the religious activities that take place on the bathing ghats in the Holy City of Varanasi. The Ganges River Boats are on the whole used for visitors during Sunrise and the early hours of the morning and Sunset when the ghats are a hive of activity. During and after sunset some boats crowded with tourist lay anchor to watch the Arti the Hindu religious ritual of worship which takes place every evening and involves Hindu Holy Man wafting pots full of incense and praying to devotional music.
