Stock photo image of Tongkonan Houses with buffalo horn shaped roofs in Toraja. A uniquely shaped roof of the Tongkonan which is built to represent buffalo horns due to the significance of the buffalo amongst this age old indigenous culture of Sulawesi. The buffalo along with pigs are used in animal sacrifice at specific ceremonies held by the Torajanese people and the buffalo head and horns are used to decorate the entrance to the Tongkonan which is seen as a status symbol.
