Stock Photo Description
Stock photo of Buddhist Shrine in Nako village a small settlement in the Indian Himalayas. This Buddhist Shrine is an unlikely looking candidate for a holy building or place of worship but nevertheless that is exactly hat it is. A traditional Kinnauri stone cottage like building which is home to an altar and Buddha statue and always open to all the village people at any time of day. Nako village is quite a remote village located near the Indo-China border in the Trans-Himalayan region of Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at an altitude of 3,625 metres (11,893 ft). The population is majority Tibetan Buddhist due to influences in the past from across the border in Tibet and one can see many a Himalayan Buddhist Shrine like this.
