Image Description

The unusual two-humped Bactrian Camels of Hundar in the Nubra valley region of Ladakh northern India. Originally from the deserts of Central Asia and said to have been left behind during the trading years along the Silk Route.
Part of this ancient caravan route stretched from Kashgar in Chinese Central Asia to Leh in Ladakh and passed through the small town of Hundar which seems to accomodate the camels nicely these days with sizeable sand dunes on the outskirts of this high altitude desert town.
