Stock photo of the Shaggy Ink Cap mushroom. Contrast of two mushrooms, one decaying the other in good condition but starting the decaying process. Discovered on a grassy field or pasture in the U.K. the Shaggy Ink Cap fungus also known scientifically as Coprinus comatus or more commonly as lawyer’s wig, or shaggy mane are often found growing in pastures, on lawns or beside gravel roads. It is an edible mushroom and wild food but will dissolve into nothing very quickly once picked or after releasing its spores. The Shaggy Ink Caps can be preserved for a couple of days if they are frozen immediately after picking.
