Stock Photo Description
Stock photo of two women completely clothed to protect themselves from the harsh tropical mid-day sun planting rice in a flooded rice paddy field. Young rice plants after being germinated together in abundance need to be separated and planted individually after they have reached a certain height. The two Indonesian women planting rice are doing what is known as wet-rice cultivation the prevalent method of farming in the Far East. This is a freshly cultivated paddy field in West Sumatra, Indonesia. This is a common occupation in Asia with the staple food being rice unlike in the West where the staple food is wheat.
